Fostering Overview

Fostering an animal is one of the greatest ways you can help. Animals in a home benefit from a more stable environment and gives us a better understanding of the animal's personality.

  • We will work with you to understand what type of animal would work best for you. We will then find an animal that fits your guidelines
  • We have all kinds of opportunities
    • Adult dogs and cats
    • Puppies and kittens with or without their mother
    • Bottle feeders
    • Adult dogs and cats that need special medical care
    • Short term (weeks, days, whatever works for you)
  • We will provide all medical and food needs for your foster animal
  • We will help you introduce your foster animal to the animals you currently have in your home
  • We will work with you to get your foster animal to adoption events. If you are not able to transport the animal we will get one of our volunteers to help.
  • We want your input. You will get to know this animal better than anyone. We ask that you let us know what the animal enjoys and the type of home that would be best for him/her. Potential adopters may have additional questions, which we will want you input on.
  • You are not required to always have a foster animal. We know that you have your own life and there are times you won't be able to care for a foster animal. We'll check with you from time to time if we have an animal we think would benefit from your home.
  • We will make arrangements if you go on vacation. We will find another foster or bring him/her to the shelter while you are gone.
